GSL
Update - Repair has been delayed until mid-June.
May 06, 2024 - 05:51 UTC
Update - Due to the nature of world events in the region the April expectation slipped slightly and is currently expected to restore between the 13th and 18th of May.
Apr 29, 2024 - 00:04 UTC
Update - Tentative ETR is currently roughly April.

Once we have more detailed information we are able to relay we will update again.

Feb 29, 2024 - 20:40 UTC
Identified - This link went down roughly 24 hours ago.

We have now been provided with information we can disclose publicly.

The cable impact has occurred 1039km from a branching unit near Jeddah, Saudi Arabia which puts the cut location directly south of Yemen in the Red Sea.

We are also aware that AAE-1 was not the only impacted cable at this location at roughly the same time.

The AAE-1 consortium are sourcing a ship to attend site and perform repairs, however no ETR has been provided at this stage.

All traffic has re-routed, we have ample capacity through the US and across Europe for this volume and expect to see no throughput problems for the duration of this event.

Feb 26, 2024 - 00:30 UTC
Update - The cable ship has been over PC-1 damage area for some time now with no further bad news being reported.

At this stage our expectation is that this path will be restored during May, however we do not wish to specify a day due to the length of this outage being over 6 months, and there is still a chance for additional faults to be found as well as severe weather still being present in the area.

Apr 29, 2024 - 00:01 UTC
Update - PC-1 remains down.

We have some information that another repair attempt will be made during March, however expectations are currently low for recovery within March due to possible extensive damage.

ETR remains unknown, with the outage nearing 5 months.

Feb 26, 2024 - 00:23 UTC
Update - Update Dec 12: due to persistent extreme weather, the cable ship still cannot depart back to the repair site. They're still standing by in Washington to leave once there is a suitable weather window but currently, due to this situation PC-1 has announced that ETR has been changed from end of December to no ETR.
Dec 15, 2023 - 18:11 UTC
Identified - We have observed an outage on the PC1-North submarine cable system between Seattle and Tokyo.
Traffic has automatically redirected via alternative paths.

Customers transiting between Japan and North America may experience higher latency.

May 19, 10:27 UTC
Monitoring - Our vendor has indicated that the outage was caused by a transmission equipment failure. They have implemented a fix, and we have observed that the link has been restored. Traffic will automatically reroute over this path again.

We will keep this issue open and will continue to monitor until we receive complete confirmation this issue is resolved.

May 18, 14:40 UTC
Investigating - We have detected a fault in the Unity cable system, impacting direct connectivity between Los Angeles and Tokyo. Our backbone has automatically rerouted traffic, customers may experience higher latency between these two regions.

We have contacted our supplier and will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.

Update - Unfortunately, due to a mistake made by the technician on-site during these works a 3rd traffic hit has just occurred, this has now been resolved and traffic is re-converging
May 17, 09:32 UTC
In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
May 17, 06:00 UTC
Scheduled - We are undertaking emergency maintenance on a core router in Hong Kong to rectify a software bug that caused a brief outage yesterday, following advice from our vendor.

Customers in Hong Kong with unprotected services may encounter up to two brief outages, each lasting no more than 5-10 minutes during this timeframe.

Other customers may notice routing changes for traffic destined to Hong Kong, as our backbone automatically reroutes this traffic via alternative paths.

Resolved - All fibers have been restored as of earlier this morning, we have monitored for a few hours and confirmed everything is now stable.
May 8, 03:31 UTC
Monitoring - Roughly three hours ago one path was restored, bringing Adelaide back onto our backbone. We are still waiting for other paths to be restored.
May 7, 20:33 UTC
Identified - We have detected an outage impacting our services in Adelaide caused by multiple fiber breaks isolating the site. Services terminating in this location will experience a loss of connectivity via our backbone network as we work to resolve the issue.

Other neighboring sites are not impacted, traffic has already been re-routed.
